May update on the head of school search process, from search chair Melinda Lewison

by Melinda Morbeck Lewison ’90, P’22 ‘24

Dear Lakeside School community members,

We are pleased to provide an update on the progress of the head search. Since my previous message, the process has advanced from a period of community engagement and broad outreach into a more focused phase of candidate recruitment and assessment. Our partners at Carney, Sandoe & Associates have spoken with a wide variety of strong and highly qualified individuals. From this group, a more curated list has been identified—candidates whose backgrounds and leadership experiences resonate strongly with the needs and aspirations of Lakeside.

Members of the search committee have recently engaged with these individuals to explore their leadership approach, educational vision, and interest in becoming part of this community. Following these discussions, the committee will select a smaller group who will move forward in the process.

As a reminder, maintaining confidentiality is essential to attracting exceptional candidates—particularly those currently serving in leadership roles at other institutions. Many individuals participating in the process have requested discretion, and honoring that request allows us to engage a broader and stronger pool of talent.

Thank you for your continued engagement and support. We look forward to sharing further updates in the weeks ahead.

Sincerely,

Melinda Morbeck Lewison ’90, P’22 ‘24
