How to buy Upper School textbooks through eCampus.com online bookstore (Portal to purchase books opens Aug. 15)

by Kristen Lesoing, coordinator of books and instructional materials

Lakeside School partners with eCampus.com online bookstore on textbook purchases for Upper School students. Families can visit lakesideschool.ecampus.com to purchase books for their students directly from eCampus.com, from third-party sellers using the “Marketplace” feature, or through any vendor you see fit (please make sure you are using the correct ISBN and version of the book listed).

All Middle School textbooks will be purchased through the school and billed to student accounts. During the first semester of the school year, I will notify parents and guardians of the amount of this bill. All financial aid will be applied to this charge for families that receive aid. If you have any questions about Middle School textbooks, you can email me at info@lakesideschool.site.

Purchasing textbooks

The portal lakesideschool.ecampus.com is set up for Lakeside students. Within the portal, students can find book lists by their student schedule and compare prices of books from eCampus.com and Marketplace vendors. Materials purchased directly from eCampus.com will be shipped to homes. Shipping is free for eCampus orders over $35. Marketplace items are subject to separate shipping fees.

Financial aid for books and calculators is available for families who receive financial aid. The aid is applied to purchases made through eCampus.com.

How to order books and materials using the portal
Step one

Visit portal lakesideschool.ecampus.com and click “View Books” under the “Shop by Schedule” widget on the online bookstore homepage.

Step two

Use the “Sign in with Google” option to sign in and enter your student’s Lakeside email address and password, which also work as a Google sign-in. Please note: Logging in with a personal Gmail account will not bring up your student’s information in the portal; you must use your student’s Lakeside credentials. Once you sign in to eCampus.com with your student’s information, you will land on the account page.

Families with students new to Lakeside: You will receive your student’s Lakeside email and temporary password in an email from “Lakeside Books” the week of Aug. 11. When you log into the eCampus portal with this temporary password, you may see the Google welcome message below. If you see it, click “Accept” to continue to the account page.

A Google terms of use agreement

In some cases, you may find that your browser automatically signs you into the eCampus portal using your own Google credentials without giving you the opportunity to enter anything. If this happens, you may need to open a new tab with “private browsing” that will not automatically sign you in. For information about how to enable private browsing, please see this article.

On the account page, click on the Lakeside School logo in the upper left corner to get to the homepage with the “Shop by Schedule” option.

Step three

Select “Shop by Schedule” and the texts and materials for your student’s classes will be displayed. Select the books you would like to purchase, along with the preferred condition (new, used, rental, eBook and/or Marketplace, as available) and click “Continue.” Then confirm your purchase and click “Proceed to Checkout.”

Step four

When you reach the secure checkout screen, enter your student’s name and Lakeside email address. This will allow eCampus.com to send any digital items directly to your student’s email, while the parent/guardian name and email address will be used for customer service contact, order communication, and school reporting. Then click “Continue” for the shipping screen.

Step five

Fill out your shipping address, select your shipping method, enter your payment information, and select “Continue” to review your order.

Note to families receiving financial aid: In the payment section of checkout, you will see a line that says, “Financial Aid.” To apply financial aid to your order, you must check the box. The box will prefill with $1,500 as the amount for financial aid, in order to ensure that the entire purchase is covered. Lakeside School will pay the entire amount of your order. If you have selected any rental textbooks, however, you will still need to provide credit card information to secure the rental.
