Starting out new

I enjoyed my time at Lakeside. I was not a great student. Lakeside was a shock to me. I remember sitting in class many days listening to the teacher and not understanding anything he was saying. His references, vocabulary, and manner of speaking just did not register. I was lucky that my first year at the school coincided with a non-graded experiment for that grade level. I never had to really study before Lakeside; I did not know how. I struggled, like many students new to the school do. — June 2, 2010, T.J. Vassar ’68 autobiography
