At Lakeside, we honor the religious and cultural diversity of our community, and believe in the value of family, religious, and cultural traditions. We want students and families to feel supported in their observances and believe that students shouldn’t have to choose between their academic or co-curricular commitments and the full expression of their identity.
To support our students in their religious and spiritual practices, the diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging team, in collaboration with Upper School Student Government, created a list of holidays during which our students are in observance. These include, but are not limited to, Christian, Hindu, Jewish, and Muslim holidays that require late nights, fasting, or missing days of school. School administrators ask teachers to not assign big assessments, presentations, or projects on days we know students will be in observance.
If you have questions about how your student can be supported in their practice, please reach out to your student’s advisor or the DEIB team (info@lakesideschool.site).
